U.S. Gov Lite SimulatioN

A quick-run version of the engaging Statecraft U.S. Government Simulation!

Students still receive the core U.S. Gov Sim experience: they take on key roles and are challenged to collaborate and compete to advance personal, organizational, and national goals. Through active learning they’ll discover just how complicated running a country can be and achieve a deep understanding of U.S. Government course concepts.

The Lite version has a halved runtime of only two to three weeks so it’s great for classes with time constraints or as an introductory Statecraft product for first-time users!

Statecraft U.S. Gov Lite works great 100% online or in-person for classes with 5 to 1,000+ students.

When students sign up for the Statecraft U.S. Government Lite Simulation their roles will already be configured so they can start playing immediately. They’ll receive goals that correspond to their position and they accumulate points through accomplishing these goals every week. Some goals are competitive and others are collaborative. This dynamic requires students to work strategically with their classmates while maintaining and lobbying their personal agenda; because that’s how real life works!

Your class will represent the whole U.S. political system embodying key influencer roles such as:

Executive and Legislative:

President, Speaker of the House, Senate Majority Leader, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair, House Majority and Minority Whips

Media Members:

Journalist, Reporter or Editor for the New York Times, Fox News, and CNN

Defense & Security Positions:

CIA Director, Director of National Intelligence, Secretary of Defense, Army Chief of Staff, Chief of Naval Operations, Air Force Chief of Staff

Interest Groups:

ACLU President, Executive Director and PR Director

The events presented in the simulation are 100% inspired by events that have actually happened at some point in U.S. history. Your students will get a taste of how exciting politics can actually be! This is not dry, boring material; students will be shocked and challenged working through the complicated dilemas our country leaders have to navigate every day.

Regardless of their role or title every student has the potential to dramatically affect the outcome of the game through their strategic moves. By gaining personal experience with course concepts they’ll finish with a much deeper understanding of how the U.S. Government really functions.

How is the Lite Version different from the Full Sim?

Since this is a “Lite” version of the Simulation you’ll only experience about 50% of the features and capabilities available in the full Statecraft US Government Simulation. That said, you’ll still get a lot of benefits! You’ll still create intense engagement as students experience lessons first-hand.

You can read about the full suite of features offered in the comprehensive version of the simulation on the Statecraft US Gov Product page >>

ROLE spotlight: president of the aclu

One student will be assigned the role of President of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Since the goal of the ACLU is to make sure citizens’ rights are protected, in this role they’ll be working to sway public opinion and Congress’ votes on major bills and influence executive actions. Students in this role have the ability to lobby Congress, file lawsuits, mobilize the public, and work with the media to generate favorable coverage. They’ll have additional goals like increasing ACLU membership and generating positive press coverage for the organization.
